If you answer these questions in a 3 paragraph descriptive essay, you will get full credit for having written on your blog 3 times for the first week. Write an answer to these questions: When was the last time you were assigned a research project? In what subject was it? What did you do? How did you feel about it? What did you think about it? Was it hard? Easy? Interesting? Boring? A burden? A joy? What was your project about? Did your teacher give you a choice of topics or was a topic assigned to you?
The last time I was assigned a research project was junior year. Thats the only time i did a lot of research on a project of all the four years I've been in high school. This was in english class and I must say that i enjoyed all the time i spent on it. Yes, it was a challenge for me but i stood it out and worked my butt off to get the best grade i could. This paper was a huge percent of my grade before the last report card. I had a really great time researching this paper because we used a lot of class time to do it. The topic was gender inequalities.
Gender studies was interesting to discuss because i knew that women had trouble with being equal with men but i didn't know it went more in dept. My teacher did give us the choice to pick from 5 different topics. It was said that a womans job is to stay at home cooking and cleanig waiting for her husband to come home from work. Its sad that we were being self-degraded just because of our sex. They said that it was written down that men had all the power and had to be in control. Its even sadder that it took so long for women to have the right to vote and for us to have some type of say so in the world. Im glad that we are in a new time peroid where both women and men can both work togther and share the spotlight.
I would really like to do more papers on topics i didnt know that much information because then i can allow my mind to explore new things such has traditions and cultural differences. we can learn about more then just the united states is offering us. I happy that i choose this topic to write my college reseach paper on, it shows and allows me think outside the box and see what other cultures do and what rules they go by in their own lives oppose from us.
10/23/13 - This is great Nia. It's good to hear you enjoyed doing research. It's also interesting to hear that you'd like to explore traditions and cultural differences and to learn about more than what the United States offers us. It sounds like you'd love to be an Anthropology major in college which is the study of people and cultures from all over the world as well as human evolution - how humans evolved from Australopithecines and how culture evolved to be the way it is now. For example, did you know that there are still people living on this planet today who live the way we lived 100,000 years ago? They are called hunter/gatherers and this is said to be called the lowest form of social organization compared to life in Western industrialized societies. We live at the highest level of social organization. This is not to say that we are better. It just means that our culture is more complex. Anyway, you did a great job with your first blog post. It's really great to hear that you enjoyed doing research before. I wanted you to put this on your blog though so I will show you how during class.
